JOB SUMMARY


Manages the ongoing operation of the assigned department or services to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization, under the general guidance of senior executive responsible for the area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Develops, supports, and evaluates standards of performance in assigned clinical areas.

* Prepares an operating budget and manages the assigned function to achieve financial results consistent with the authorized budget.

* Maintains effective employee relationships.

* Develops and implements appropriate staffing plans for assigned areas. Identifies and assesses needed qualifications and competencies for all department personnel.

* Maintains quality control programs and continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.

* Establishes and maintains standards of care and practice in compliance with the nurse practice act, JCAHO, and State licensing agencies

* Maintains professional growth and development.

* Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.

* Integrates Patient Services into organizations primary functions.

* Adheres to dress code.

* Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.

* Meets all departmental specific competencies.

* Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.

* Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.

* Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

* Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


EDUCATION AND LICENSURE


* Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred for this position.

* Minimum of ten years of nursing management experience is necessary for this position.

* Kentucky RN License, and annual completion of competency assessment tool is required.

* Corresponding Professional Certifications is preferred for this position.
