JOB TITLE: Nursing Director of Telemetry

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing required. (Will consider AD
with experience in Nursing Management in lieu of BSN.)
Experience: Five
years experience in Nursing Management in hospital.
Physical:
Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards.
Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish
smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Carrying
up to 40 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, working, bending,
stooping, and reaching.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will participate in long and short
range planning, policy development and priority setting for
assigned areas of responsibilities. This position will administer
those departments assigned, providing policies to govern correct
utilization of nursing resources in the provision of patient
care. This position will reflect leadership, planning, and
evaluation in both the business and service components of
the areas of responsibilities. Routinely, assigns and responsibly
directs staff. This position is required to utilize independent
judgment.
NOTE: Orientation and training is age
specific.

Patient Care
1. Collaborates to design,
develop, implement and maintain an effective patient care
environment based on an understanding of technological/ clinical
advances in nursing practice.
2. Defines standards of nursing practice within assigned
area.
3. Monitors performance of clinical systems.
4. Collaborate to determine models of professional practice
for use within Patient Services Division.
5. Collaborates to develop strategies to assist practitioners
with technical/clinical/ethical issues of nursing practice.
6. Assists with, provision of Patient Education and Discharge
Planning strategies.
Administration
1. Participates in development, implementation
and evaluation of Patient Services division goals and objectives.
2. Participates in development and evaluates those policies
that affect nursing practice.
3. Participates in committees/ Task Force/
workgroups as designated. Contributes and/or reports factual
data pertaining to the division of Patient Services.
4. Participates in community, regional, state and national
activities whether professional, or nonprofessional, educational
or non-educational.
5. Collaborates in development of Patient Services goals and
objectives.
6. Collaborates to develop and maintain a system that meets
all accrediting agency requirements.
7. To develop and maintain a system of governance.
8. Facilitate CQI/PI program in all assigned departments.
9. Collaborates to design, develop, implement, and maintain
systems within the Patient Services Department that coordinates
clinical and financial data to produce management information.
10. Monitors community labor pool, works with both community
educational institutions and St. Bernards Medical Center's
Human Resources Department to ensure availability of adequate
numbers of trained employees.
Personnel Management
1. Provides for orientation
and staff development programs that meet the identified needs
of the new and/or experienced staff nurse and manager.
2. Responsible for provision of grievance procedures
for nursing staff and the development of fair and objective
evaluations and disciplinary methods.
Team Effort
1. Responsible for maintaining open communication
that is vertical and horizontal, inter-departmental and intra-departmental
and inter- disciplinary throughout the institution.
2. Promotes the professional image of nursing leadership at
St. Bernards.
3. Promotes and maintains the team approach to care; supports
the overall team efforts of the medical center.
General
1. In absence of Vice President
of Patient Services, serves as nursing administration representative
over entire Patient Services Division.
2. Assumes responsibility for professional development.
Addendum
1. Monitors hospital organ procurement activities
and serves as liaison with Mid-America Transplant Association.
