JOB PROFILE
The Executive Director serves as the primary
position for economic, business, and community development
for the Shawnee Economic Development Foundation. The Foundation
was founded in 1958. There are 17 board members. The City
of Shawnee appoints three members to the board. The other
14 members are unit holders in the foundation. The total assets
of the Foundation are $681,032. The current cash balance,
as of August 31, 2008, is $591,420.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Serve as the Executive Director for The Foundation
* Effectively build relationships with the City of Shawnee,
Pottawatomie County Board of Commissioners, and Business Leaders
in the region.
* Generate suspects and prospects that result in job creation
and capital investment.
* Establish and maintain close working relationships with
all existing industry, Indian nations, Department of Commerce,
and other local, state, and federal stakeholders.
* Create a climate that will maximize positive economic growth
through creative leadership.
* Create effective channels of communication with all levels
of government.
* Manage the finances, day to day operations, and staff of
The Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Proven track record in economic development
or related experience.
* Previous experience working with a variety of economic development
projects.
* Understand the role of local economic development.
* Ability to deal in diverse climates.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Strong communication skills.
* Previous management experience.
