Executive
Director
Child Development Centers of the Bluegrass in Lexington, Kentucky
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership,
strategic direction and administration of the Childhood Development
Centers of the Bluegrass, a non-profit organization, which
provides early intervention services for young children with
disabilities (birth to five years of age). As well, the Executive
Director is responsible for providing overall leadership and
operational oversight of the organization, in support of organizational
mission and goals. Working with the Board of Directors in
developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources,
and establishing policies. Provides leadership and direction
to staff management in carrying out the key roles assigned
to them.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
A. Leadership
* Provide leadership and direction to ensure
the effective operation and delivery of programs within the
organization and community
* Support the organization's mission and principles.
* Ability to work with and supervise a staff of 25.
B. Marketing and Public Relations
* Increase visibility of organization's programs,
services and activities and maintain good public relations.
* Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local
officials. Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth
serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders
and community organizations.
C. Resource Development / Management
* Ensure the annual budget is funded and organization
has adequate cash flow.
* Oversee the development of financial development strategic
plans and, as necessary, participate in cultivation and solicitation
visits with development staff and board members.
* Knowledge of grant writing and maintaining grants.
* Knowledge of fundraising.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* May be assigned special projects periodically
by the Board of Directors.
RELATIONSHIPS
* Internal: Maintain effective working relationship
with Board of Directors, organization staff.
* External: Develop and maintain contact with potential and
current donors, external community groups, parents, school
officials, and others as required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
or university required.
* Master's degree in early childhood special education highly
desirable.
* Accreditation a required
* Non profit experience ideal.
* An understanding of current related legislative issues and
related market environment is ideal.
* Experience in the fund development arena is ideal.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with the Board of Directors and staff.
* Ability to control and manage a budget.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to
problems.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor
and motivate staff.
* Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
